We love babywearing!

When I was pregnant, I heard a lot about baby slings or wraps and I was quite sure I’d be using them too once the baby is born…well I didn’t. First of all, it was winter so whenever we went out somewhere I preferred to use a stroller for the baby’s comfort. We didn’t travel with our tiny baby during Winter so when Spring came and we felt the need to visit a few places around Wrocław, we first decided to visit a shop with ergonomic baby carriers.

Why ergonomic?

The first baby carrier we had was a Swedish Babybjorn one recommended by many people from our surrounding. They are very popular around the world but recently, experts started changing their mind and news is spreading that they shouldn’t be used as they are unhealthy for the baby’s hips. I’m sure you’ve all bumped into this picture before:

Well, you never know whether it’s the truth or marketing but I decided to take it seriously. I won’t say I didn’t use this carrier because I did, a few times for short periods of time and I’m sure it didn’t harm my baby in any way. He was quite snug and cuddled into me and slept in it for quite a while and mind me, he weighed 7kg at that time, not about 15 like the child in the picture above…the choice is yours.

We wanted a carrier that we could use for a longer time as we like to travel a bit here and there. By longer I mean that we wanted a carrier that would last for a couple of years and one, that we could carry our baby in for longer periods of time being sure that the baby’s safe, comfortable and happy. Oh, and we wanted it to be healthy for our backs too!

At the shop, we tried on a few different wraps and carriers and we found it! A beautiful brown MEI TAI from LennyLamb – a Polish company producing carriers and wraps. I fell in love with it from the moment I tried it on. It’s a bit of a combination of a carrier and a wrap, it has a panel for the baby’s back but it doesn’t have buckles. Instead you have to tie a few knots to secure the baby. My husband wasn’t too happy with it as men usually aren’t convinced about having to tie a baby to themselves but he said it’s mainly me carrying our baby around so he’ll live with it lol You can see it in the picture featuring this post.

I used our MEI TAI quite a few times but not as often as I’d like. I loved the feeling of having my baby snuggled against me, with his head resting on my breast, dribbling while fast asleep

That’s when we got another carrier, one that I always dreamt of but we didn’t buy it earlier because we couldn’t afford it. Knowing how great it is though, I wouldn’t think twice if I had to buy it again – it’s absolutely worth every penny! I’m talking about the famous TULA baby carrier. Ergonomic, back panel, buckles – 1 2 3 and you’re off with the baby in no time! I absolutely adore it, I carry it with me all the time and use it whenever my Little Man gets tired of his stroller. My husband likes it a lot too and I feel very proud looking at him walking around with our baby in the TULA carrier.

To sum up – I highly recommend having a baby carrier! Not only for travel purposes but also for every day chores, shopping or for walks if you don’t feel like taking a stroller with you. Before you buy a carrier though, I recommend trying on a few in order to choose one that is most comfortable for both you and your baby. It’s an individual choice and the carriers I have might not meet your personal needs or you might prefer a carrier I don’t really like for example. Wrocław has a couple of places you can visit to rent and/or buy a baby carrier. One of them even offers that you can rent a carrier and if you decide to buy it, they take the rental price off the total price.
